What are the symptoms of hematuria?
Hematuria can be caused by an infection in any part of the urinary tract. All cases of hematuria should be evaluated by a doctor who can order tests to confirm or rule out an underlying cause. In most cases, people with gross hematuria do not have other signs and symptoms. People with gross hematuria that includes blood clots in the urine may have bladder pain or pain in the back. Treatment for hematuria will depend on the cause. For example, white blood cells in your urine usually mean that you have an infection. If you do have blood in your urine, your doctor will ask you some questions to find out what caused it.
